Highlights this week: The Chengdu Children's Palace Choir (whose music is released courtesy of, presumably, the Chinese Government) out-chanted the likes of Karen O and theKkids with their "Boating Song" in shrill, mellifluous refrains that even native Mandarin-speaking confidants of mine couldn't translate for me. ("It's too high pitched to understand them!"); & we went on Girl (/girl-led) Band Overload: Pearl Harbor, Brilliant Colors, Weed Hounds, Pens, X-Ray Spex, Blondie (believe it!), Camera Obscura and Frankie Rose.
